I have lookead around all possible stores and web sites. This is the best for all the features and the price.Worth your money.
I bought this as a gift for my wife. The radio is weak. When we had so many problems with it I put it back in the box to return it, but never got around to sending it back. The CD player skips. The batteries run down even when the unit is not used. It is still in the box in the closet. I wish I could send it back now.
We are satisfied with the overall performance of this equipment, except for the poor reception on the FM band.
Also, for years JVC was one of the best names in sound recordings. Without considering Sony, that leaves this market segment to JVC.It seems that Sony is slipping in quality control.
This JVC boom box accomodates the latest digital formats, but, luckily for me, it alsoplays the old style analog cassettes. I have an extensive collection of over 200 cassettespurchased in the 1980s for my auto cassette player.
There are only a few portable cassette players available on the market, since everything is goingto MP-3. I avoided Sony boom boxes because of so many negative buyer reviews of their mechanical features: CDs not read, cassette motor failures, etc.
Without this unit they would be useless. My new auto plays CDs, but not cassettes. With so many titles that I still enjoy on cassettes, the JVC boom box is a useful product and I am grateful it is available.
I bought JVC because of prior product ownership and the company's reputation for quality. I still have JVC vinyl records that I enjoy listening to, after 50 years in my collection.
At first I thought that this was a great little boombox. I'd put in a CD and the display would read "no disc" even though I tried many different discs. I really liked the MP3 playback and mp3 song name display. Then after about 2 days of playing CDs and/or MP3s, they would no longer play. I was very disappointed with the product. Good thing Amazon is so great with accepting returns.
